High Peak Welcomes Diversity Project

In the High Peak, as in the rest of rural Derbyshire, we are conscious of the fact that, despite being close to large centres of population with diverse communities, we do not attract a wide cross section of people either to live here or to visit for recreational purposes.  The High Peak Welcomes Diversity project seeks to address this by creating a welcoming environment for all.

High Peak Stand Up to Racism is inviting local shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants to join our campaign. Businesses and venues on the list sign up to the following:

  •  We commit to welcoming all, whatever their ethnic and cultural background, religion, sexual orientation, gender identification or disability.
  • We support diversity and inclusion throughout the High Peak

This involves putting a sticker in the window and a notice inside, and making sure that staff do all they can to make everyone feel welcome. High Peak Borough Council is supporting the campaign and we had a grant through High Peak Council for Voluntary Services from the Derbyshire Police Commissioner’s Vulnerability Fund. The Peak District National Park also shares our commitment to encourage people from all races, religions, cultures and backgrounds to enjoy the wonderful countryside in the High Peak. Look out for our stickers in the windows of your local shops, pubs, cafes, restaurants and for this card on display inside.

High Peak Stand Up To Racism meets regularly on Zoom and welcomes new members.
